Three Bed cottage
This three bedroom cottage is one of our Torquay seaside rentals. It is only 5 minutes walk from the nearest beach which is Oddicombe.
We can highly recommend this detached three bedroom cottage, which is within walking distance of many family oriented beaches in Torquay. I have talked before about some of these. But
would also like to highly recommend a lovely beach which is within a short drive from St Anns. This is Goodrington Sands in Paignton. It has one of the most gently shelving shores in the area,
which makes it a great beach
for families with small children. You can walk out to sea for ages without getting out of your depth. It is a long beach and has a seaside award for safe swimming with lifeguards on duty during
the summer months from May through to September inclusive. It is also kept very clean and is
raked everyday with a tractor to remove stones, pebbles and seaweed. There is a wide variety of activities available, including watersports such as water skiig or paddle boats and pedalos are
also available for hire. You can also have beginners' windsurfing lessons. If you prefer to laze around and relax in the sunshine, it is
also possible to hire sun loungers, deck chairs and beach huts. There are plenty of cafes in the area as well as pubs, fish and chip shops and icecream kiosks. Visit the Seashore Centre where you
can learn
about the sea life and then check out the rock pools at low tide to see the sea life first hand. The Seashore Centre is situated in Goodrington Park which is within walking distance of the beach.
Other facilities available here include crazy golf, go-karts and a boating lake. For families with younger children, they will definitely want to visit QuayWest Water Park, which
features up to 8 water slides and flumes. There are also some great walks along the coastline, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The area is wheelchair friendly as the area is quite level, with a slipway down to the beach. There are also disabled friendly toilets. As you would expect guide dogs are permitted on the beach
and there is also disabled parking available. You can even hire a wheelchair if required.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach during the summer months and must be kept on a leash on the promenade. But they can be exercised on North Sands beach.
When you have had enough of the beach, why not take a trip on the steam train which runs from Paignton to Dartmouth.
